If the Bahamas weren't already on our bucket lists, they certainly were after we'd watched Daniel '007' Craig surface from the sea wearing his swimming trunks in Casino Royale. In that moment, the crystalline water, soft pink sands and paradise palm trees eclipsed even his outfit, and the Bahamas became everybody's once-in-a-lifetime holiday destination.
There's more to the Bahamas than tropical beaches, however. Families love the place thanks to those world-famous swimming pigs and big-thrills water parks. Romantics are smitten by the island-hopping opportunities and distinctive places to stay, not to mention the high chance of spotting a celeb (the likes of Beyoncé and Oprah Winfrey own homes here). And adventurers are wowed by the spicy food, distinct music and extraordinary wildlife that brings together the Caribbean, Africa, Latin America and USA in one special spot.
Nice in Nassau
Direct flights touch down in Nassau, the capital, on New Providence island. There are more than 700 islands in the Bahamas, only 30 of which are inhabited, and though Nassau isn't the biggest, it is the busiest, which means many visitors spend their entire break here, as there's so much to see.
