THE BRICK ABODE

THE BRICK ABODE was designed by ARCHITECTURE INTERSPACE to reveal and glorify the surrounding context and the local Indo-French architecture. It has been designed keeping in mind the needs of the client based in the United Kingdom sophisticated contemporary yet earthy abode.

a "Climatically, the hot humid weather made us turn to the traditional Indo-French architecture in the nearby French town Pondicherry. We studied the climate mitigation factors adopted by traditional Indian and French courtyard houses and derived the layout for the house. The house feels bigger than it is because of its connection to the landscape and the efficiency of the layout'" says the principal architects Goutaman Prathaban & Madhini Prathaban

The main entrance of the house is through the courtyard. The L-shaped house surrounds a rectangular courtyard in such a way that all rooms overlook the courtyard.
