Development activities connected with public spaces such as the Galle Face Green, Independence Square, Vihara Maha Devi Park, Race Course, Clock Tower in Fort are anticipated in the near future for improving public participation and uplifting the tourism industry. The Dutch Hospital shopping precinct is one such example.

The SLIA organised a design competition for the Jaffna Cultural Centre (JCC), at the request of the Indian High Commission to hold a national design competition for the development of conceptual designs for the project in order to select a suitable consultant architect for the project.
What makes Archigram so unique is that the Archigram group was able to capture the attention of not only the architects but reach out and create a change in mass culture through only the publication of their magazine “The Architectural + Telegram” = Archigram.
Tucked away amidst tall leafy foliage and a paddy field in the picturesque village of Aranwela, Tangalle this 100 year old ‘walawwa’ presented a charming setting as well as a challenge for Archt Pradeep Kodikara to combine the old world charm with contemporary architecture.
