A translation story (from Sinhalese) and the one by Santhan have been published in this issue. Poems by Regi Sirivardhane and Anar add colour to the literary pages. 
Renowned linguistic scholar and writer Professor S. Rajaram’s contributions have been traced in an article by Ira. Araventhan. This is a part of Kalachuvadu’s 80 + series which pays tribute to the living legends of Tamil cultural scenario.

The ever honoured and ever criticised personality would be none other than Mahatma Gandhi. After a century had passed since his demise he remains immortal. This is the notion behind to bring Gandhi a subject of new discussions. The writers and activist born after Gandhi see him with different perspectives. In this issue the special section devoted for this contains articles by Suneel Krishnan, T Kannan, Chira Balasubramaniam, Balasubramanian Ponraj, Aravindan Kanniyan and Suresh Pradeep. It is the season of reading in Tamilnadu as the Chennai Book fair happens in this month . This issue focuses on the new books and new book culture. Aazhi Senthilnathan in his extensive interview speaks to Aravindan about the impact and result  of AI in the Tamil milieu. Sudarvizhi writes on the contributions of A R Venkatachalapathy to the Bharati iyal. Four short stories published here unexpectedly track the progress of Tamil fiction thru generations. The writers are Ku Alagirisamy, Vannanilavan, S Senthilkumar and Amutha Aarthi who belong to different generations.

Satchidanandan Sugirtharaja from London probes into the real things in his article . K Thirunavukkarasu writes on the recent verdict of Supreme court of India about the economic based reservation . S R Krishnamurthy the celebrated translator who translates from French to Tamil and vice versa has been interviewed by D I Aravindan. Sri Lankan Tamil writer Thelivathai Joseph,Tamil writers and activists P Jayaprakasam and Vizhi Pa Idhyavendan, scholer Kasuman and Malayalam poet T P Rajeevan remembered in the tributes paid to them.Kumaranandan's short fiction, Sivasankar's poem and articles by Stalin Rajangam, G Gurusamy and Y Manikandan make the literary section a not to miss item. In the 80 + section Vasanthi Devi , well known educationist and formal vice chancellor is remembered by Manikumar.

Hijab, the attire for muslim women became a controversial stuff for the fundamentalists in Iran and the basics for the revolt there. The reciprocation dashes in other parts of the globe. Sharmila Seyyid and Peer Mohammed write on the matter in detail.  M Ramanathan writes on the latest developments in China's administration and politics which ought influence the status quo in Asian countries. The Nobel winner for literature Annie Ernaux is introduced by S R Krishnamurthy. Dinesh Akira in his sports article speaks  about Pakistan cricketer Babur Aslam. In the series 80 plus M Gopalakrishnan points the struggles and successes of Vijaya Velayudham a pioneer in Tamil publication. P A Jayakaran and Idalakudi Hassan contributes to the literary section with their short fiction. Rathan reviews the Canadian movie This Place which was screened in the Toronto International Film Festival 2022.

G Kuppusamy laments the tennis legend Roger Fedderer's retirement from the arena. T M C Raghunathan, pioneer in progressive literature is vividly remembered in the special section Porunai paakkangal. Yuvan Chandra sekar with his poignant short fiction and Peru Vishnukumar and Na Viswanathan with their poems  contribute to the literary section. Senthooran reviews Pa Ranjith's latest movie and Karthik Ramachandran the Short films and documentary festival held at Thiruvananthapuram. Su Ra'S letters to N Sivaraman record the literary and cultural scenario  of the last span of the last century.

The assault on the controversial writer Salman Rushdie is condemned by Perumal murugan and Sugirtharaja. Araindan writes on the recent attempts of transforming literary wworks to visual  feast in Tamil cinema . Theodore Bhaskaran writes on the national award winner RV Ramani and Rajankurai Krishanan pays homage to film critic Venkatatesh Chakravarthi who passed away last month. Y Manikandan continues his research in unknowmworks of Bharati. A Muttulingam contributes a fine short fiction.

Kalachuvadu is an international monthly journal for politics and culture. Published since 1988, it was founded by the noted Tamil writer Sundara Ramaswamy (1931-2005). Kalachuvadu was published first as a quarterly then a bi-monthly and has been a monthly since 2004.
