A Christmas tree is the quintessential symbol of the season, and a Christmas celebration wouldn’t be complete without a nicely decorated tree to evoke the festive spirit.
Of course, with the pets running around, the idea of having a Christmas tree morphs into a hazard that’s best relegated to the bin. However, don’t dismiss the idea just yet! With a bit of creativity – and compromise – there are ways to incorporate this Christmas icon into your fur-mily celebrations safely.
1. Oh, Christmas Tree…
Real or artificial one? While real ones are the draw with their wonderful pine scent and gorgeous outlook, real trees are unfortunately a no-no if your pooch is into chewing tree branches.
While the trees are generally safe and non- toxic for pets, there are pets who love to chew tree branches. Those pine needles can inflict damage to the eyes and cause irritations to the mouth.
For safety, it’s also good to get a tree that has a heavy and wide base for added stability.
