Over the last 30 years since it entered India, 3M Company has worked to improve lives across the country through its innovative solutions, says Eric Quint, Vice President and Chief Design Officer
Which 3M technologies have been invented for the Indian market?
EQ: At 3M Company we have 46 technology platforms that are available and impact one way or the other all 3M markets around the globe. The way we apply these platforms might be different per country, driven by local needs, regulations or socio-cultural dynamics. 3M entered India 30 years ago, building long-lasting relationships with the government and industry to collaborate to improve people’s lives. Public transportation, pollution and air purification, and respirators are a few areas that 3M successfully developed on our technology platforms such as adhesives, abrasives, non-woven, ceramics and film technologies.
Tell us about the 3M Innovation Centres.
EQ: 3M has recently opened their 55th Innovation Centre located in Washington DC. Our Innovation Centres are a great place to demonstrate our scale of thinking and our innovative solutions based on our 46 technology platforms. It is a great place where our technologies meet our customers and have an engaging innovation dialogue with them. Our brand platform “Science. Applied to Life.” summarizes what we have been doing successfully for over 100 years now.
