For as long as she can remember, Megan Dousset has been going to hot rod events with her family and even as a young kid, imagined herself one day cruising in her very own street rod. The Dousset family have owned several cool hot rods throughout the years and while she enjoyed cruising around rod runs with her sisters, in 2010 Megan decided it was time to finally get a hot rod of her own on the road.
“Seeing Sarah and Clare cruising in their own roadsters around Valla, I was like, yep, I definitely want my own roadster. It was good to always have a car to drive but it’s not quite the same when you don’t have your own. I guess I’ve always liked the ’36 shape and seeing as Sarah had an A Model and Clare has the ’32, mine had to be something different.”
Megan earns a living as a radiation therapist and readily admits that she’s not very hands-on when it comes to working on cars. Her brother-in-law, Rolf had this roadster under construction and when he decided to put it up for sale, Megan jumped at the chance to take over the project. Purchased as a rolling chassis and body,
Megan looked to friends and family to help her complete her dream car, but owned the ’36 for about two years before things really started to happen. It then took seven years to complete, as this all started happening while Megan was at university.
