It takes restraint to extensively customise a Harley-Davidson tourer …

Gollo's Glamma Glide
At first glance and from a distance, this 2017 Street Glide Special perhaps doesn’t look all that special, such as are its tasteful modifications. But then, the more you look, the more you see and once you have taken it all in, detail after detail after detail, you feel pretty impressed. I sure am. And I reckon you will be too.

You see, it takes restraint to extensively customise a Harley-Davidson tourer without resorting to a garish paint job, more suited to an Easter egg than a mega-cool ride. And in planning his modifications, Dave ‘Mule’ Golledge has done just that. Pretty well to perfection.

After reading through the spec sheet I had asked Mule to complete, I was kind of stunned, initially, by the many, many changes he has made to his blue beauty. Now a really keen Street Glide aficionado looking over this bike will no doubt spot some of the changes. But most probably will not. So let’s start at the front.

We first peruse the Chrome Front-end Kit, which consists of all components necessary to completely chrome out the front-end including chrome fork sliders, a chrome fork axle retainer nut kit, a chrome fork slider drain screw kit, chrome front wheel spacers, chrome front axle nut cover kit, and chrome upper fork nut covers.

Then our eyes take in the front wheel, which is an H-D Chrome Enforcer unit and, although it is not fully visible, there is also a matching rear wheel. Arlen Ness Big Brake rotors are in pride of place up front to add stopping power. These over-sized rotors provide a minimum of 30 per cent more stopping power than factory sized rotors, are constructed of 420-grade stainless steel, and are drilled for optimum performance and heat dispersion. Brum and I have both run these and they work really well!
