Do It Yourself

One thing about diesel enthusiasts is that they can’t leave well enough alone. They want their trucks to be the best they can be, and are adamant about building them to suit their needs. And sometimes, it’s the simple stuff that can make a difference. Adding extra fluid with larger-than-stock differential covers and transmission pans helps keep temps down under load and provides added lubrication. It’s also a great time to flush things out and add new upgraded synthetic lubricants.

Case in point is our own “Project Cowboy Cadillac.” Our 2006 F250 Super Duty is a real-world truck that sees plenty of towing duty in Arizona. The trailer is a bumper-pull 28-footer and when loaded with gear and a four-place Ranger, it tips the scales at nearly 16,000 pounds. So having a stout truck to pull the load up Arizona mountain grades has been the goal of the build.
