I was introduced to boating in 2012 by my partner Kev, a keen sailor. We joined a sailing flotilla in Orhaniye, Turkey and I fell in love with the ocean. Our first solo sail was on an Oceanis 323 called Dimitreaus. Kev talked me through assisting him to sail the boat. My confidence grew hour by hour, as did my enthusiasm. Our sailing adventures allowed us to meet people equally passionate about the sport. We were fortunate to have beautiful weather and amazing scenery. We ate at secluded restaurants, admired crystal-blue waters and watched dolphins play at the bow of the boat. Words cannot describe the tranquillity. My interest in sailing intensified, so we joined more flotillas and I took my skipper’s ticket and got my Powerboat Level 1 and 2 certificates. We decided that the time was right for Kev to get a new boat and over the next four years spent many happy hours visiting various boat shows researching the options.
