Since the last few years, a Twitter trend has been gaining popularity and pace boycott bollywood.

This is leading to a complete withdrawal of audience from the Hindi Film Industry, Bollywood. It has changed into many shapes and forms, and is often effective against a specific upcoming film or an actor. Several hashtags like BoycottBollywood, Aliabhatt, BoycottLigerMovie, BoycottBollywood-Forever etc are trending. It started out as a normal hashtag and gained pace quickly which is now creating tension in the industry, where huge amount of money is invested in numerous films and top actors. This movement is causing huge losses to producers and distributors in the country with the latest films like Laal Singh Chadda, Liger being highly affected by this.

Filmmakers are afraid that these boycott calls may adversely affect their box office collections. There is no insurance against these circumstances,” said a producer whose film is set to release within a month and its star is a target of boycott calls. Even if we try to get indemnity, the premium will be too large. We have no other solution but to wait and watch and we hope this boycott wave dies down,” said a producer who wanted to remain anonymous.
