Mr. Santosh Bhandari was born to succeed, or so it seems. When in 1982 he ventured into retail of women's inner wear with a 180 square feet shop in the bustling market of Egmore in Chennai, few of his family and friends gave him a chance at succeeding. In a candid conversation with Inner Secrets he reveals how he overcame multiple hurdles to establish the business and make it grow to its present size.
Positive attitude is so necessary to succeed in any sphere of life, including in business. This is precisely what got Mr. Santosh Bhandari, the quintessential businessman, across the line.
Four Ankur stores, each dealing in specific segment of inner wear, are located in the Egmore area of Chennai and are a popular destination for customers of inner wear. While Ankur deals in exclusively in women’s Innerwear, Ankur NX is into men’s and kids Innerwear, Ankur Plus deals in nightwear and swimwear and Ankur Matching Centre retails Leggings, dupatta and other products. Mr. Santosh’s passion for his store is meritorious. The Ankur chain of stores is known to be a one-stop solution for all intimate shopping needs.
THE ROAD TO SUCCESS
Mr. Bhandari’s first gig in business was a fashion accessory store called “Fancy Stores”. The store was established in 1976 in partnership with his brothers. After tasting initial success with this store, Mr. Bhandari decided go out on his own. On 28th July 1982, he set up his very own first venture - ‘Ankur’.
