Mayank Gupta, director of Kanpur’s Lala Purushottam Das Jewellers was not too inclined to join the family business as a kid. With an aspiration to become a scientist or a soldier with the Air Force, his thoughts started aligning with the jewellery sector as he completed school.

A thrust to change with the times

After getting his Bachelors in business administration, he joined the Indian Diamond Institute in Surat, and went on to take a gemology course from GIA, Mumbai. He did a two-year internship in Mumbai before joining the business formally and learnt about assorting and manufacturing. In 2013, he joined the business as a part-timer and turned it into a full-time job in 2015. His various initiatives took the organization to new heights.
