The Real Housewives Of New York City newcomer Elyse Slaine reveals all about joining the reality show

She’s the newest face on the scene in The Real Housewives Of New York City, but friend of the wives Elyse Slaine hasn’t had the easiest ride so far.

After being branded “boring” and “judgmental” by some viewers, the tide has finally turned for financial trader Elyse, 56, whose sharp one-liners and incredible impression of Dorinda Medley have helped her win over a legion of new fans. Phew!

Elyse – who, fact fans, actually introduced iconic original wives Bethenny Frankel and Jill Zarin – has plenty of history with the RHONY ladies. Having been in the same social circle as Ramona Singer for 20 years, she was brought onto the show as her pal – but it’s fellow newbie Leah McSweeney who she’s grown closest to.

Here, Elyse tells us all about her feud with Ramona, what she meant when she told Sonja Morgan she was her ex-husband’s “accessory”, and what drove her to drink this season…

Hi Elyse! How did you end up joining the show?

I have history with Ramona, Sonja and Dorinda. Ramona invited me for a drink that first night and from there they kept inviting me. It was quite accidental and I didn’t expect to be included in as many group events as I was. But it was an experience!

What was filming like? Because it can get quite crazy…
