But now the tragic story of a missing mum has reached its biggest twist yet, with news that former rugby league star Chris Dawson has been arrested for the murder of his wife Lynette – 36 years after she went missing from their Sydney home, and Chris’ then-teenaged lover moved in.

Detective superintendent Scott Cook says the former schoolteacher seemed ‘calm and a little bit taken aback’ when he was arrested outside his Queensland home on December 5. Following his extradition to NSW, he was taken to a Sydney police station where he was formally charged.
