1 A decent knife sharpener will make your cooking a lot easier. I’m amazed by how many houses I go to that have good knives that aren’t sharp. It’s easy to keep a sharp knife sharp, but it’s hard to sharpen a blunt knife.
2 Fresh tomatoes are for eating raw, and canned tomatoes are for cooking. The fresh tomatoes we get in the UK aren’t sun-kissed and juicy enough to cook with, so save some money and use canned plum tomatoes.
3 My go-to four ingredient recipe is one I do at home a fair bit, and it’s gotten a lot of love on Instagram during lockdown. It’s long pasta (like spaghetti or linguini), loads of roughly chopped capers, chopped red chilli and flaked canned tuna in olive oil, all tossed together.
