Find out why you’re constipated…

Get Regular

Constipation is never a pleasant topic of conversation. But if you’re bothered by constipation, you should be discussing it with your physician.

Your doctor can guide you in making lifestyle changes to overcome occasional constipation. And, if the problem is chronic, your physician can identify the underlying causes and recommend treatments that can help you move your bowels regularly and improve your life.

It’s important to talk to your primary care physician to find out if there’s a medical problem or medications that are causing it and rule those things out. If you have chronic constipation, you should be followed by a GI physician and make sure you’ve been evaluated.

What’s Causing Your Constipation?

Some people move their bowels several times a day, while others do so only several times a week. Most experts say you’re constipated if you have fewer than three bowel movements a week, with symptoms such as hard, dry stools, straining to defecate, a sense of bowel obstruction or incomplete emptying, or needing assistance to empty your rectum.
