Over the years, Land Rover vehicles have proven to be an ideal platform for specialist conversions, serving as both fire engines and ambulances. While most of the conversions are produced by specialist manufacturers, licenced to produce such emergency vehicles, like Carmichael & Sons, initially Land Rover sold its own fire appliances based upon the Series I 80".
Originally sold to a Land Rover dealer in Manchester in 1957, David Rosenfield Ltd., this example was then sold to the Cheshire County Fire Brigade as a L4P (light four-wheel driven pump) where it was stationed at Hazel Grove, and later moved to Stalybridge.
