Designed by Ramprakash & Associates, Avighna Strikes a Perfect Balance Between Two Different Styles Resulting in a Sumptuous Home for Ramesh Babu in Kottivakkam.
The home of Ramesh Babu Head of COC, India (Nokia Siemens Networks), Avighna is the new landmark in Kottivakkam, ECR. This home is an expression of minimalistic opulence set in stone. Designed by Ramprakash & Associates, this stately home with stone façade has common areas on the ground floor and the private spaces on the first floor; topped by the terrace garden and service rooms above. As one approaches the residence, the rectilinear composition of the front peripheral boundary, in which stone, wood and metal are in harmonious co-existence greets the observer. Subdued lighting and greenery highlights the name of the residence camouflaged in stone.
Inside the gates, the car parking area is a continuity of the same rustic grey granite stone, with a subtle play of squares forming the platform to stand on. From here, stone slabs as stepping stones on a white pebble bed lead us to steps of rustic stone lit in golden light ending at the entrance. Foliage, both living (from the landscaped garden to the left) and artistic (wall mural in the entry niche) complement the theme of rectilinear stone compositions, which continues on to the interiors of the home.
Next, one moves on to the foyer, to the left is an entire wall of grey pebbles dramatically lit further adding interest. The wall to the right aesthetically displays a colourful mural of Lord Vinayaka. From here, one can admire the view of the garden, through the French windows. The huge teak wood door designed using linear horizontal teak planks, punctuated by antique themed carving, and white lacquer glass square with semi-transparent fixed glass creates a unique identity for the living area.
