Hyderabad-based AR. Supraja Rao designs a duplex for Ashish Khotari, that has contemporary design with a very modern opulence balanced with subtle colours.

Supraja Rao of Design House struck the right balance between two different styles, while designing a duplex for Ashish Khotari, that has resulted in a mesmerizing home.
This duplex located in the posh Banjara Hills area, is spread over an area of 4,500 sq. ft. is split in two levels. The designer has skillfully crafted a spacious areas that includes living room, dining area, powder room, four bedrooms, kitchen, play zone, study area, home theatre and a puja room. Striking the right balance between functionality and aesthetics, the designer has created exquisite spaces. The furniture used throughout the duplex though simple in design comes alive through bright colours. Explaining the concept Supraja adds, “The floor circulation has been kept soft for a spacious flowing feel. Soft furnishings and colourful sofas bring in an element of colour.”
The interiors were designed with a modern design sense and clean straight lines. The colour tones dominate the canvas increasing the visibility of the peripheral design elements. This duplex apartment with four bedrooms, two on the ground floor and two on the first floor has been supplemented with features to enhance the overall creative experience. When one enters the home, one can’t miss the beautiful console and the cabinet with delicate Rajasthani tikiri that welcomes one as one enters the Khotari residence. Opposite this element is a formal seating space in lime coloured leather sofas that is warm. As the space does not have many elements, the creativity seems to flow from the different vibrant colours that comes alive.
