BORN IN MALAYSIA, and growing up in Melbourne, Australia, Samuel Ng was a fi ne-dining chef for a number of years before pivoting to bartending. It was here that he achieved his greatest accolades, general manager at Australia’s best-known cocktail bar, The Black Pearl. With local and international awards under his belt, Ng was appointed brand ambassador for Monkey Shoulder and there’s no greater, more trustworthy champion than a bona-fi de mixologist telling you that, “Scotch should only be drunk a certain way, ie. over ice, or neat, maybe with a little water.”
