It’s been 16 years since Katie Holmes had a hit movie in Batman Begins, and she’s desperate to get her career back on track after years of tumult.

Between pulling off the divorce of the century from Tom Cruise in 2012 and raising their now 14-year-old daughter Suri as a single mother, there’s been precious little time to cold call casting directors.

But now, as Suri grows more independent, Katie, 42, is determined to attach herself to a blockbuster movie – and she’s been advised to call in favours from A-list pals.

“Katie needs to star opposite a huge name to propel herself back to the top. That’s the way it works if someone has bowed out of major productions for so long, or had a string of flops. Sadly, both apply to Katie,” says our insider. “I believe that’s the advice that’s been sent her way.”

A separate insider says Katie’s heard the message loud and clear, and has already reached out to her old friend George Clooney in the hope of working with him.
