KRISSY'S COLOURFUL MENAGERIE ARE LIVING THE HIGH LIFE

MEET AUSTRALAI'S happiest pets!

Surrounded by her menagerie of pampered pets, Krissy Stanley roars with laughter when asked why she started dying her chooks and doves in an array of vivid colours.

"About 12 years ago, my hair suddenly turned white.

It was quite a shock," Krissy, swathed in her favourite lolly pink hue, reveals.

"But then when I saw myself in a photo with my five white Silkie chickens, I thought we looked like a big box of tampons! So I coloured my hair pink and found that non-toxic food dye was a fabulous way to safely colour up my birds."

Back in November, Krissy's yellow-toned Silkie, aptly named Lemon Chicken, won Australia's Happiest Pet of 2024 competition.

"I was blown away," Krissy, 74, tells New Idea.

"But I must say my pets are all pampered like royalty.

"The birds are massaged and receive manicures. They are hand-fed meal worms and have amazing diets ... they truly are living a Hollywood lifestyle."
