As Prince Harry held his newborn baby for the first time, he likely felt all the usual emotions of a first-time dad – pride, joy, relief.

But chances are, there was a hint of sadness, too, with the realisation that a key person was missing from the delivery room.

Harry’s mother, Princess Diana, would have been 58 if she was still here today.

The prince was just 12 years old when his mum’s life was tragically cut short on that fateful night in 1997.

The 34-year-old has previously spoken about wanting to make his mother proud by raising a family.

“I’m sure she’s longing for me to have kids so she can be a grandmother again … but I hope that everything we do privately and officially, that it makes her proud,” he told Country Living.
