Churches across Manchester threw their doors open and stepped into the community following May’s devastating terrorist attack.
On Monday May 22 a bomb was detonated following an Ariana Grande concert in the MEN Arena, killing 22 people – primarily children and teenagers – and leaving 59 seriously injured in hospital.
For ten years Anthony Delaney patrolled Manchester as a police officer, but now as the leader of the Ivy Network of churches, he was keen to welcome people in for prayer.
He said: “Many of us woke up to the worst possible news. At the beginning of the year we were in the same arena with thousands of others as we prayed for our city. For this to happen in the same arena this is awful.
He added: “I was a police officer for a number of years here in the city and I have seen the worst things happen over the years, but this is the single worst tragedy to occur in our city.
