After the frustration of lots of near misses in recent months our assistant editor has ventured back up north, where he has hit a bit of form thanks to a simplified approach that surely just makes sense?
Over the past few months I have been getting increasingly frustrated with my results on the open match circuit. Yes, I have had some positive results, including framing in big-money qualifiers towards the back end of summer, breaking my match record in my first week in the new job and framing in other stand-alone events that all showed glimpses of where I want to be, but I was starting to feel I was getting certain things very wrong.
Targeting F1s has been an area where I have felt I wasn’t up to speed with last year. I’d get okay results, odd section wins but consistency was severely lacking, with LOADS of near misses. An odd one I would put down to bad luck, but when they become a regular occurrence something is up. The lads in the office even expected story time every Monday morning, ready for my excuses!
