First up is a detailed 1/30 model of the Messerschmitt Bf 109 fighter. The aircraft first saw operational service in 1937 during the Spanish Civil War and was still in service at the dawn of the jet age at the end of World War II, Along with the Focke-Wulf Fw 190, it formed the backbone of the Luftwaffe’s fighter force. Fast, maneuverable, and well-armed with machineguns and cannons, the Bf 109 and its pilots were a force to be reckoned with and a number of German fighter aces came to prominence in the skies over Europe.
