Shapps: It's Time To Stop These Forever Rail Strikes

STRIKING rail workers caused mass disruption again yesterday when they walked out for 24 hours in a dispute over jobs, pay and conditions.
The industrial action by 40,000 members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) union and Transport Salaried Staffs’ Association (TSSA) hit millions of people.
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps promised to end “forever” strikes with plans that include stopping co-ordinated walkouts and limiting picketing. He said: “It’s time to stop these endless mandates.”
Around 22 per cent of services were running yesterday in another £100- million sledgehammer to the economy. Just half the network was open and services were stopping at 6.30pm.
