Widow tells of heartbreak of legend’s last few years
JACK Charlton’s widow Pat has told how she didn’t want him to know he had dementia.
She opens up about the football legend’s illness in Finding Jack Charlton which hits our screens tonight.
The highly-acclaimed film gets its TV premiere on Virgin Media as part of its week-long campaign to raise awareness for the Alzheimers Society of Ireland.
Through the moving feature-length documentary, filmed during the last 18 months of the sporting icon’s life, viewers get an intimate portrait of his final days.
In one of several emotional moments caught on camera, Pat reveals: “I didn’t want him to know. I just wanted him to think he’s got a bad memory.
