At the inauguration of Apollo Proton Cancer Centre, VP stresses on improving health outcomes
-
Calling upon the youth to shun junk food, Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu on Friday urged them to revert to the lifestyle of their ancestors and exercise more to maintain good health.
Inaugurating the Apollo Proton Cancer Centre at the Dr. Vikram Sarabhai Instronic Estate in Taramani, which is being touted as the first proton therapy centre in South Asia, Mr. Naidu said that though health outcomes had improved with availability of modern methods of treatment and better healthcare facilities, the country was still facing “many formidable challenges”.
“They include inadequate public spend, low doctorpatient ratio, high share of outofpocket expenditure, inadequate infrastructure in rural areas, lack of penetration of health insurance and inadequate preventive mechanisms,” Mr. Naidu said.
