The assignment began with my quarterly pilgrimage to the famed Lembeh Straits in Indonesia as I continue my work photographing these amazing critters.
This time round, things were a little different. I had to shoot in challenging in-water conditions and with Sony's new RX100V. I had heard a fair bit about what this little camera can achieve, and its blazingly fast speed of 24fps.
Most importantly, Sony now make their own underwater housing, MPK-URX100A which can fit any RX100 camera, and is depth-rated to 40 metres. One of its most interesting features is the optical fibre cable shroud that can trigger four strobes! Not forgetting the 67mm threaded front, which I can mount my macro and wide angle wet lenses to, without the need for adapters. The housing also has three mounting holes at the base which allows it to accommodate a wide range of arms and base plates to further expand the underwater set up. The whole set up also looks pleasing and professional with it’s black shell and stainless-steel cold-shoe mount.
