Investing in equipment

Assuming that you have shot a few weddings and have a sizeable portfolio as well as enough cash to start a business, it is best to not spend everything you have earned all at once. The best thing to do is to reinvest the entire money into buying new equipment. If you already have a camera body, it is best to invest in lenses, external speedlights and flashes and studio lights, stands, umbrellas and so on. These things, if procured in-house, can save a lot of money in the long run as renting these can be very expensive.

Investing in a good monopod also can go a long way as it makes carrying heavy lenses easier. When you form a team, you will notice that every member of the team will bring some equipment or the other on the table and you can share yours with them!
