To define urban, we must first define street photography in order to identify differences and the necessity for distinctiveness. Street photography is most usually defined as the photographing of subjects/people in (public) cityscapes in a documentary-style manner.

What is Urban photography?

Urban photography is a broad phrase that refers to photography that depicts all aspects of an urban setting while including elements from a variety of other forms of photography, such as portrait, fine art, landscape, and architecture photography, as well as photojournalism. Although urban photography and street photography are often mistaken, the two genres are separate. Only people are photographed candidly by street photographers. Urban photography, on the other hand, can be candid or not, and it is not confined to people.
