Your Earning, My Grace!

When a Perfect Guru says something, then it has to materialise at any cost. The whole creation comes together in order to fulfill the order of the revered Satguru.

Trust, unshakeable faith, surrender– if one wishes to cherish the zenith of these attributes, then, the annals of discipleship are the unmatched sources to refer to. History is replete with several beautiful incidents, which are eternally inspirational in this regard, irrespective of the age and period. Let us nourish ourselves from one such page recorded in the saga of discipleship.

This tale relates to the time of the fourth Sikh Guru, Shri Ram Das Ji. There lived a very poor family in Amritsar, comprising of only two members– a mother and her little son, Soma. The hard strokes of poverty had left the mother so weak that she was unable to earn anything to run the family. She, therefore, requested her son to do some work for the sake of their survival. The son, who was very young, said– “Mother, who will give me work? I have no experience?” The mother understood his fear and hesitation being a small child and naïve in the field of work. So she herself proposed a simple and easy way out to her son– “Soma, don't worry! I will give you boiled grams; you go and sell them.” The little son further enquired, “But, mother, where will I sell them?” The mother was wise and farsighted. She said, “Dear child, you go and stand near the Guru's ashram, from where all the devotees pass by to seek audience of the revered one. Standing there will be helpful in two ways– one, your grams will be sold easily since a huge number of devotees visit the ashram. Secondly, you will also be able to hear the divine disquisition of the beloved Master whenever he addresses his devotees.” On listening to the words of his mother, little Soma got relieved and willingly agreed to be on his job from the next day.
