UP Kyah Simon scored for Australia in their 1-1 draw against world champions USA on Tuesday evening. Ashley Hatch had opened the scoring for the USA but Simon hit an 88th-minute equaliser to force the draw in the game at Newcastle, Australia. That came four days after the USA had beaten the Matildas 3-0, with Simon playing 45 minutes.
So-Hyun Cho featured for the full game as South Korea won 2-1 against New Zealand last Saturday at the Goyang Stadium. The midfielder delivered an inch perfect cross to Seon-joo Lim from the left side of the box who headed into a gaping net in the 80th minute to seal victory for the hosts.
November’s Barclays FA WSL Player of the Month nominee Ria Percival, meanwhile, earned her 154th cap for the Football Ferns but was unable to prevent her country from defeat in South Korea.
The two sides then met again on Tuesday as preparations continue for the AFC Women’s Asian Cup in January, with New Zealand this time coming out on top with a 2-0 win at the Goyang Stadium thanks to two late goals. Cho played 73 minutes before being substituted while Percival played the entire game.
