Dig out the passports, grab the kids, and head to your nearest airport, because the long-awaited trans-Tasman travel bubble between Australia and New Zealand is here – meaning travel, without the need to quarantine on arrival, is back! And where in the world could be more appealing for our first forays back into the world than Aotearoa, an otherworldly wonderland of forests, mountains, lakes, beaches, fjords and unique wildlife?
Safe, close and friendly, a great family holiday in New Zealand is as easy as a, b, c…
A is for AUCKLAND
The first port of call for many Australians visiting New Zealand, Auckland is the country’s most populous and multicultural city, offering an enticing mix of urban and outdoor adventures. Whether your family fancies music, arts, culture, delicious food, stunning vineyards or simply embracing nature, there’s an abundance of fun for every age. Also known by its Maori name, TÄmaki Makaurau, the city is spread over volcanic hills and around twin harbours, with stunning black and white sand beaches, sprawling parklands, bushwalking, rafting, mountain bike trails and an abundance of adventure activities.
Littlies will love its world-class animal parks and theme parks and there’s an incredible collection of museums and galleries with curated children’s exhibitions with easily accessible parents rooms. The Auckland War Memorial Museum, Auckland Art Gallery, Auckland Museum, Torpedo Bay Navy Museum and MOTAT (Museum of Transport and Technology) are favourites, with a variety of programs and interactive exhibits to keep the kids entertained.
