Getting ready to reign - WILLS & KATE'S BIGGEST MOVE YET

There was a time in his life when he tried not to think too much about the fact that he would one day be king.

Now Prince William has gone from an occasionally reluctant royal to embracing his future as monarch. And although it could be some years before he finds himself in the hot seat, he’s actively getting ready to reign, including planning his future with the help of two important women – his wife, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, and his grandmother, the Queen.

William – who has recently been addressing the type of monarchy he wants to oversee, following the negative publicity that surrounded his and Kate’s tour of the Caribbean – has been schooled by Her Majesty on how to be a sovereign since he was young. While boarding at Eton, he used to pop over to Windsor Castle on a Sunday for afternoon tea and sessions with Granny on subjects like the constitution.

She’s continuing to guide him today, says constitutional expert Dr Craig Prescott, including taking him through how to deal with the famous red boxes of documents needing her royal assent that are delivered every day. “I know William and the Queen have had regular meetings at Windsor Castle, going through the boxes,” says Craig.
