His kids love to start the day dancing around the kitchen. Meanwhile, he likes to blast out heavy rock while he goes for a walk.
Prince William, 39, has given a surprisingly intimate glimpse into family life on a podcast that encourages people to walk for health and fitness. The future king has shared his reflections on why walking is important for Time to Walk, a podcast from Apple Fitness+.
Here are some of the insights he shared while going for a walk around the Sandringham estate.
HIS KIDS LOVE MUSIC TOO
William says most mornings Prince George, eight, and Princess Charlotte, six, fight over which song is played as they get ready for their day, so he has to take charge and give them both a choice of music. Prince Louis, three, isn’t quite so fussy.
One of their current favourites is Waka Waka by Shakira. “There’s a lot of hip movements going on, there’s a lot of dressing up. Charlotte, particularly, is running around the kitchen in her dresses and ballet stuff. She goes completely crazy, with Louis following her around trying to do the same thing. It’s a really happy moment where the children just enjoy dancing, messing around and singing.”
MUSIC REMINDS HIM OF HIS MUM
William remembers his mother Princess Diana driving him and his brother Harry to boarding school after they’d been at home, and singing to help dispel their anxiety about going back. One song he particularly remembers her singing is Tina Turner’s The Best.
