Sarah Snook doesn’t do things by halves. The Australian star has thrown her career into high gear with her role as sardonic media heiress Shiv in the savagely funny US dramedy Succession.
And with her life on fast forward, even lockdown couldn’t get in her way. With borders closing all over the world, the actress didn’t just hunker down and wait things out. No. She hunkered down, fell in love and got married!
“At the beginning of the pandemic last year, I got locked down in Melbourne with one of my best mates and we fell in love,” shares Adelaide-born Sarah, 33.
“We’ve been friends since 2014, lived together, travelled together, always excited to see each other, but were totally platonic. We’ve just never been single at the same time. I proposed and we got married in February in my backyard.”
Her new husband is Australian comedian Dave Lawson, 43.
“There’s so much heartache and sadness in the world, but on a micro, personal level, I’ve been very fortunate,” says Sarah. “There’s a really lovely grace in that without the pandemic, we might not have ended up together so quickly.”
Finding love in lockdown isn’t the first time Sarah has experienced serendipity. Even her role in Succession came out of the blue.
When she was asked to audition for the show, she thought it was out of her league and only flew from her base in New York to Los Angeles for a read-through because a friend insisted.
