The Maharshi Karve Samadhi & Memorial (20032006) is a unique creation by Ar. Narendra Dengle and his Narendra Dengle & Associates Architects. It was for Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha (MKSSS).

The project has two buildings, a samadhi and a memorial dedicated to Bharat Ratna Maharshi Karve. He was a pioneer in women's education & emancipation. The simple samadhi canopy is in steel, wood and Mangalore tiles. It reminds of Karve's hut on the campus and harks back to the days of the time Karve lived in Pune. The museum came later. A pathway connects the two buildings with an existing garden in between.

The museum dedicated to Maharshi Karve represents his shy & serious personality and depicts nature's force. Maharshi Karve did great social work for women's education & emancipation during the orthodox era. You will see the display in three wings around a central circular open-to-sky courtyard. The central court works as an amphitheatre with the roof used for the seating of the audience. It gets an interactive feel with the lumère show. You can go to the roof through a leaning staircase.
