We all are and have been dependent on the Internet for various things, from quite a time, Aren't we? With the unprecedented scale of development in the Internet and web-related services, the point where we should draw the line for maintaining privacy is getting blurred.

None of us are actually sure as to what kind of data and how much of it is being tracked, collected and stored by the online service providers. They might say and announce that everything is transparent and that only the data being collected is only for the facilitation of providing personalized services to enhance the user experience. But, there's no actual way to verify it, Is there? Do you think companies like meta, Microsoft and other giants disclose their entire architecture and code just to provide transparency? No way! There were even several cases in the past, where companies which have claimed not to collecting user personal data, exposed the personal data in a data breach. We can assert ourselves that there is law enforcement to take legal actions, right? But, the law enforcement only enters the field, when crime/misdemeanor has already taken place. By that time, the damage that shouldn't have happened will have a happened. So, how to protect ourselves? Can we imagine a world where no malware is present? Let's get some insights.

Data Breaches, Malware attacks like viruses, spywares, trojans etc. are able to thrive only because there are loopholes in the programmed code used for building websites, applications, services, softwares etc. And it is a slightly-depressing yet widely accepted fact that writing code without vulnerabilities/issues/loopholes is next to impossible. So, it is imperative that we will get hit by malwares and targeted attacks every once in a while. So, it's no use that we rely upon the service provider for complete safety. We, as users, should also be responsible and cautious as to what data are we providing the application access to. But, often, we don't concern ourselves with long pages of Terms & Conditions, EULA (End User License Agreement) etc. This is why Internet Literacy is important.
