Two decades since she first found fame, Bar still looks every inch the supermodel. But a lot else has changed. These days, she’s married to the love of her life, entrepreneur Adi Ezra, and is a blissfully happy mum to their three young children. Rather than travelling the world, she spends most of her time in her native Israel with her work projects – including a TV reality show – carefully chosen to fit around her family. So our colleagues at sister magazine ¡hola!
Fashion were lucky to be able to catch up with Bar recently in Madrid, which she was visiting as ambassador for Spanish shoe brand Xti.
Bar, how have you changed since you started out in the fashion industry?
“I feel much more sure of myself than I did back then. I used to care a lot what people thought of me, but now I have enough self-confidence to push those thoughts away. That’s really liberating.”
Do you think the fashion world itself is very different?
“I think the main change is that these days we don’t only see skinny women on the catwalk, in magazines and in adverts; there’s a new commitment to authentic beauty.”
What memories do you have from when you were starting out?
“I remember how I used to go from casting to casting, 12 to 15 per day, with my model book and heels in my bag and a map and subway ticket in my hand, constantly hoping that someone would book me.”
