PRISON inmates in Alabama are being farmed out as modern-day slaves to private businesses and public agencies across the state, so the greedy government can pocket a whopping $450 million for their backbreaking labor, according to a shocking lawsuit.
In disturbing court documents, furious current and former jailbirds charge prison bosses bullied them into menial jobs and confiscated a substantial chunk of their wages, leaving them with "next to nothing!"
The 129-page federal lawsuit - which accuses Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey and more than two dozen other officials of violating the Trafficking Victims Protection Act alleges convicts are forced to work for municipalities, such as the cities of Montgomery and Troy, as well as 575 forprofit companies. Some of the businesses cited include meat processors, local AnheuserBusch beer distributors and McDonald's, Wendy's and KFC franchises, which have "leased" convict labor since 2018!
