THE PRINCESS ROYAL VISITS THE CORRIE SET IN SALFORD AND MEETS THE CAST OF THE ACID ATTACK STORYLINE

There was a proper princess on Coronation Street last week, only this time it wasn't Tracy Barlow.

The Princess Royal set foot on the famous cobbles last week to meet the team who have been working on the soap's acid attack storyline. This storyline highlights the work done by the Acid Survivors Trust International charity, whose patron is the Princess Royal, and which liaised with the production team to ensure the accuracy of the harrowing scenes.

In the episode that was aired on Monday night, focusing on the build-up to Daisy Midgeley's wedding to fiancé Daniel Osbourne, her obsessed stalker Justin is released on bail. He shows up at the Rovers Return, advancing towards Daisy with a glass full of acid, throwing it at her and saying that "no one will want her".

The aftermath repercussions of the attack will have on the Street's residents for a long time to come, both for Daisy and her friend Ryan, who takes the full force of the toxic liquid and suffers horrific burns.
