SHE once said, "I don't really think, I just walk". It's vintage Paris Hilton, the original pink princess of puff and master of the ditsy one-liner.
She's the woman who once asked of Walmart, the American superstore that stocks practically everything under its cavernous ceiling, if it "sells wall stuff".
Who told the world to "never pass a mirror without looking in it". And if you don't know what to think when you see your reflection, "just be like, that's hot".
She's free with advice too. "Always walk around like you have on an invisible tiara." "Life is too short to blend in." "Live S every day like it's your birthday. And, "A true heiress is never mean to anyone except a girl who steals your boyfriend."
All this and more has earned her a reputation for being shamelessly out of touch with the real world and, given her penchant for pretty things, unabashedly hedonistic.
But Paris has been speaking up for a whole different reason lately - and this time there's nothing funny about it.
"My heart hurts more deeply than words can describe," she says. "I've worked hard to cultivate an environment that's all about love, respect and acceptance and I expect the same in return." It all started when she thought she was doing something sweet: posting pics of her little boy, Phoenix Barron, to mark his first trip to New York.
The tot, clad in head-to-toe Burberry as befits the son of a follower of fabulous fashion, perches on her lap and looks cutely into the camera.
"My precious angel, baby Phoenix's first time in NYC," she wrote. But if Paris was hoping for an influx of cooing comments, she was sorely mistaken.
