FOSTERING A PERFORMANCE-DRIVEN CULTURE
December - January 2024
|Indian Jeweller
Building a performance-driven culture is a key attribute of a growing, evolving company. Dr Saurabh Gadgil, Chairman and Managing Director, PNG Jewellers, talks to Suneeta Kaul, explaining how he has gone about achieving this goal
As the Chairman of PNG Jewellers, I firmly believe that a performance-driven culture is vital for the success and growth of any company, including ours. We have been awarded the ‘Great Places to Work’ certification two years in a row -- this is a testament to our continued efforts towards building a culture that is unique to us.
KEY ATTRIBUTES
Such a culture is characterized by several key attributes. Firstly, there must be clarity in expectations, ensuring that every member of the organization understands her/his role and responsibilities clearly. This clarity facilitates alignment of individual goals with the overarching objectives of the company. Additionally, continuous learning and development are essential components of a performance-driven culture.
We must encourage our employees to constantly enhance their skills and knowledge to stay competitive in the ever-evolving jewellery industry. Moreover, a results-oriented approach is crucial, emphasizing the importance of achieving measurable outcomes that contribute to the company’s success.
IMPORTANCE OF FOSTERING PERFORMANCE-DRIVEN CULTURE
Fostering a performance-driven culture is imperative for PNG Jewellers for several reasons. To start off, I would say it enhances employee motivation and engagement. When employees see that their hard work and contributions are recognized and rewarded, they are more likely to remain committed to their roles, and strive for excellence.
