Local fare with the feel-good factor.

- Charlotte Mackaness

Fodder

ITS DOWN-TO-EARTH name belies what a quite extraordinary enterprise this Yorkshire farm shop has become and

what it achieves every day in championing local produce. Fodder is a Yorkshire Agricultural Society (YAS) project started after the 2001 foot-and-mouth outbreak to not only offer a much-needed retail outlet for local farmers but to also provide wider assistance to the rural community.

“Fodder stands for everything we, as a farming charity, believe in: a passion for Yorkshire, its farmers and local producers,” says Jo Francisco from YAS. “And we are the only farm shop cafe of its kind in the UK where 100% of our profit goes back to the charity, which helps children, teachers and rural people through education, development and support.”
