What are you waiting for?

They've been teasing these sequels for far too long. Why won't filmmakers give us what we want?

What are you waiting for?

1 Something Blue. Yes, the sequel to 2011's Something Borrowed, with John Krasinski, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Kate Hudson. Based on the book by Emily Giffin, it didn't do too well at the box office. But on streaming it's found an afterlife of its own. The film had a mid-credits scene AND a to-becontinued feel. In 2014, Giffin confirmed that she had written the script for a sequel. Any day now...

2 Udaan 2. Udaan (2010) was a great coming-of-age film. Rajat Barmecha played a teen boy who rebels against his alcoholic, abusive father, played by Ronit Roy. We know, we know. They left the ending ambiguous, but that's precisely why we're hungry for a sequel. Since 2017, there have been rumours. Vikramaditya Motwane has worked on Sacred Games in the interim. It's almost within reach.

3 Princess Diaries 3. The first movie was in 2001, the second in 2004. Anne Hathaway, the princess in question, is now playing the older woman in schmaltzy May-December romcoms. Disney signed on for the third instalment in 2022 and went quiet. Julie Andrews is 88. One does not keep the Queen of Genovia waiting.

4 The Old Guard 2.
