Meet Charles Fabian of The Residency Towers, the first President of SKAL Coimbatore, and more

In February 2019 the dynamic Charles Fabian of The Residency Towers got the Coimbatore SKAL Club off the ground. The multi-talented, multi-faceted Charles Fabian came to Coimbatore in January 2018. He moved in from Chennai where he was a SKAL Club member.

SKAL is a club exclusively for the fraternity belonging to travel, tourism and hospitality industry, including hoteliers, travel agents, tour operators, hotel management people and others associated with the world of tourism, to keep them connected to others in the field in the country and internationally.

In Coimbatore he was given a welcome party by all the General Managers, COIMBATORE hosted by the then GM of Aloft Feroz Khan at Aloft. Other GMs in the welcoming group included DC Kumar of Taj Hotel, Venugopal of Ibis, Ramchandran of Le Meridien, Rohit Mallik of ITC, Arun Kumar of Zone By The Park, JP Menon of Fairfield Marriott, among others.

As the fellowship got going, the question that came to Charles Fabian's mind was why not start a SKAL Club in Coimbatore. There had been several previous attempts made by others to start SKAL here which never quite took off.

Now Charles Fabian decided to rope in members of TAAC (Travel Agents Association of Coimbatore), including TAAC President Mr. Krishnaswamy, and TAAC Secretary Mr. Bharathi of Jai Sun Tourism - they helped to bring in more people who could become SKAL members.
