Ladd says: "I love pecan pie, and this French toast is the breakfast version."
Baked French Toast with Pecans
Prep time: 20 min
Total time: 2 hr 20 min
Serves: 6 to 8
1 Make the French toast: Butter a 9-by-13-inch baking dish. Arrange the Texas toast in the pan in 2 lengthwise rows, shingling the slices to fit them all.
2 Combine the eggs, milk and heavy cream in a large bowl and whisk to break up the eggs. Add the granulated sugar, brown sugar, orange liqueur or orange juice, vanilla, orange zest and salt and whisk until smooth and combined. Pour over the Texas toast. Cover the pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1 hour and up to overnight to let the bread soak up the custard.
